Upholstered Pews

The Foam.   The quality of foam is determined by its density.  With Canada Pew Company, you have the choice of 2.8 pounds of density or for a more economical grade, with 2.2 pounds of density.  All foams used are fire retardant and exceed the standards set by CAL 117.  The softness or hardness of foam is measured by its compression.  This is the measure of how much pressure it takes to push the foam down a specific amount.  A round disk,  with a surface area
of 50 inches is pushed down on a four inch sheet of foam, as  illustrated.  The amount of pressure required to compress the foam down one inch, measured in pounds, is the measure of the foam’s compression.  By using foams of different compressions, the upholstered seats are soft enough for comfort yet firm enough to prevent bottoming out.
The Caprails.  Caprails are one inch solid oak.

The Seats.   The seats are 2/3 inches thick with steel over joints and hardwood reinforcing along the lengths.  Seats have 4 inches of foam for greater comfort and longevity.

The Backs.  The backs are 2/3 inches thick plywood with two inches of bonded foam.

Dimensions.   20 1/2" front to back; 33 3/4" high; 18 1/4" seat height.

Suggested Spacing.   No kneelers 36 inches back to back; with kneelers 39 inches back to back
